Thunderbird Webelos Invitational is Troop 95's annual event where Webelos get to see Troop 95 in action, work with our Scouts, experience a day with the Troop, and are invited to join Troop 95 the following March. Our next Webelos Invitational at Thunderbird is scheduled for November, 2005. If your den or Pack would like to be invited, just drop an email to Assistant Scoutmaster Kalny. We'll be glad to have you! If you didn't make it last November, here's what you missed! CLICK to launch VIDEO or see larger IMAGE. |

WELCOME WEBELOS! When Troop 95 sets up bivouac, we want everyone to know who we are when they enter our camp. Testing mind and body For Thunderbird, our Eagle patrol built a ten-foot tall Trebuchet; we tested ourselves and the Webelos on the Troop 95 Monkey Bridge of Doom!; and at the end of the day the Troop relaxed with a game of Ultimate Frisbee while two boys take a break on an "Indian couch" they made using found wood and fallen leaves, as another relaxes on the Rope Bridge; Then it's time for the patrols to start cooking if they want to eat. Patrol-method camping and camp cooking Troop 95 functions by the Patrol Method. At Thunderbird, an older patrol set up camp with and mentored a younger patrol; an Assistant Scoutmaster prepared a snack of "Indian candy" as a patrol starts a fire to cook the day's meal; each patrol plans and cooks their own meals over a camp fire -- a favorite is "Loggers Eggs," a combination French toast and omlette, here served with hash browns. The Patrol Method -- teamwork, responsibility and self-reliance -- makes being a member of Troop 95 an important step toward manhood and citizenship. We look forward to having you join our troop this spring!
